Sponsored Project:
"Echoes of the Ice"

Genre: Documentary Short

Phase: Post Production

About the Film:

Echoes of the Ice will be a short documentary (15-30 min) about the last ice age and the geologic history of VT. We will include interviews with experts, field work/sites, local landmarks , etc. that will show the last ice age’s impact on VT’s terrain. We will include maps and animation. The film will focus on 2 important features, Glacial Lake Winooski (which formed when the river was blocked by sediment), and the Champlain Sea (when the lake was flooded with sea water).

I will follow a similar format as my first film, The Last Ice:Glacial Lake Hitchcock, which featured the Connecticut River Valley. It can be found on YouTube. Lake Winooski is gone, it is a ghost lake, I want to show how important it was, I want people to recognize the features that it left behind. Champlain is no longer salt water, but there are tons of clues here too. The beluga whale skeleton, the fossils of sea life. I want to put all the pieces together to help people learn.
